The step-by-step guide to making perfect coffee at home
Making the perfect coffee at home is possible — and it doesn't have to be complicated. With a few simple steps, you can extract the best flavor from your beans and turn each cup into a special moment.
The first step is to choose good coffee. Opt for specialty coffees, 100% Arabica, freshly roasted and properly packaged. The grind must be compatible with the chosen method: coarse for French press, medium for drip coffee, and fine for espresso, for example.
Water also makes a difference. Use filtered or mineral water and heat it to about 90 to 96 °C — avoiding a full boil preserves the aromas. The ratio between coffee and water is essential: a safe average is 10 g of coffee for every 100 ml of water, adjusting to your taste.
The extraction time directly influences the flavor. For French press, it's ideal to let it steep for about 4 minutes; for pour-over, between 3 and 4 minutes; for espresso, 25 to 30 seconds.
The secret lies in the sum of good ingredients, technique, and care. Want to ensure your next coffee is unforgettable? Try Tia Jô's selected beans and feel the difference.
